Little diary written on my third day in Copenhagen (June 3, 2015)
It poured yesterday, it was windy today, and I have no clue what it would be like tomorrow. However, I confirmed that no matter what, it is bright from 4AM (the earliest time I woke up so far) till about 10PM.
I was speechless when I first opened the door of my room. I think it was around 7:30PM. Sunshine coming through the big window facing west was glaring out the entire place and I could feel the warmth of the sunshine even before I stepped in.
I took these pictures about 8PM and was so ashamed of my poor photography skill. It was much brighter and much shinier which I was not capable to capture. Everything was glistening with the reflection of sunlight.
As a person who has never experienced white nights or anything similar and who has never had this much difference in the length of daylight between summer and winter, I am really surprised by what I experience right now.
It was also totally unexpected (and even shocking) that the room does not have a light on ceiling. It only has a standing lamp and a desk lamp. After spending two nights here, I came to understand why (although I still prefer to have one). However, I think the lack of ceiling lights makes me more appreciate the natural light from the sun and go to bed in time.
The room is big enough for one person. I think it is the biggest (and of course most expensive) room I have ever had. I feel truly lucky to get to live here, in a great city of Copenhagen, with amazing people around me.
A lot of stories to talk about, but I will wait until this Friday which is Constitution Day in Denmark. Meanwhile, I am going to keep relishing the sun: actually, it is getting slightly darker now- it’s 9:26PM ;)
